Hero Realms health: starting totals and how to track them
In a standard Hero Realms duel both players start at 50 health. Character Packs change that — each class has its own starting health — and campaign bosses go far beyond it.
Here is what the totals look like across modes, and the cleanest way to keep them straight.
Standard duels: 50 each
The base game mirrors Star Realms: 50 health, combat lowers it, gold-and-ally engines heal it. First player to zero loses. Two or three health swings per turn are normal once engines come online.
Character Packs change the math
Playing with Character Packs, each class starts at its own total (roughly 50–55 depending on the class) and adds a one-use skill that often heals or deals damage. That means asymmetric starting totals — exactly the thing flip cards handle worst.
Campaigns and bosses
In The Ruin of Thandar and other campaign content, heroes level up and bosses run totals well past 50. You need a tracker that accepts any starting number, not one hard-coded to 50.
Tracking it without slowing the game
The Star & Hero Realms Counter lets you set any starting health per player, gives everyone a big tap counter, and handles up to 4 players for multiplayer formats. Offline, unlimited games, and win-ratio stats to see who really rules your table.
One habit worth keeping
Announce damage and healing out loud as you tap (“6 to you, +3 me”). The counter keeps the number; the announcement keeps the trust.
